Intro into Dressmaking – this block of sessions will be across 4 consecutive Tuesday evening.
Welcome to our intro into dress making sessions. We have put together a programme of workshops perfect for Beginner or returning Sewists to build skills and confidence to create and make essential wardrobe basics.
Held on a Tuesday Evening, each garment piece taking approx. 3- 4 weeks to complete.
In this block of sessions we are letting you choose your make! A little bit of free style to suit your needs and taste. Don’t worry though
we are happy to guide you on your pattern choice depending on your sewing journey to date.
WHO’S IT FOR
- Beginner Sewists, who know how to thread a machine and looking for bigger projects to sew
- Sewists returning to sewing after a break and wish to refresh technics and knowledge
- Sewists who are looking to add more basics to their wardrobe … more cake less frosting!
- Perfect if you’ve not sewn with an independent pattern designer before.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- How to choose your size and interpret the pattern
- How to lay out your pattern and cut accurately
- How to make simple pattern adjustments – lengthen/shorten, flat bottom, removing additional fullness in trouser leg.
- How to lay out your pattern on to your fabric- Interpret and transfer pattern markings
- How to sew in darts, pleats and insert pockets
- Optional seam finishes – French – flat felled or overlocked
- Create casing and insert elastic
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Basic sewing kit to include – scissors, pins etc.

Fabric suitable to make your garment
We have a full range of fabric and haberdashery and are more than happy to advise on the suitability & requirements
