Intro into Dressmaking – 3 evening sessions
Welcome to our intro into dress making sessions. We have put together a programme of workshops perfect for Beginner or returning Sewists to build skills and confidence to create and make essential wardrobe basics.
Held on a Tuesday Evening, each garment piece taking approx. 3 weeks to complete.
A great place to Start is a Simple Sweatshirt, always a great staple and can be mixed and match with your existing items,
Sew your own sweater/sweatshirt in this session-
choose from 3 fabulous patterns all tried and tested.
Choose from classic raglan style, the Linden from Grainline Studios perfect for beginners
Size range: 32-44 finished measurements 38-50 ½ “
The mix ‘n’ match Neighbour Hood from Liesel & Co great for using up left over jerseys in contrast pieces
Size range: 32 ½ -46” Finished measurements 38- 50 ½

WHO’S IT FOR
- Beginner Sewists, who know how to thread a machine and looking for bigger projects to sew
- Sewists returning to sewing after a break and wish to refresh technics and knowledge
- Sewists who are looking to add more basics to their wardrobe … more cake less frosting!
- Perfect if you’ve not sewn with an independent pattern designer before.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
- How to choose your size and interpret the pattern
- How to cut out your fabric and assess fabric stretch
- How to sew stretch fabric on a regular sewing machine or over-locker
- How to construct a Raglan or Set in sleeve
- How to add a neckband an cuff
- How to sew and optional regular hem in a stretch fabric
How to use a twin needle on a stretch fabric
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Basic sewing kit to include – scissors, pins etc.
1.5 mtr – 2.3 mtr of stretch fabric containing at least 20% stretch these include – Ponte Roma, Scuba jersey, interlock jersey, cotton and sweater knits, French terry, wool jersey, Sweat shirting- fleece back or loop back depending on size and style of sweater chosen – we have a vast range of jersey’s in the studio if required and happy to advice.
