Intro into Dressmaking -3 session
Welcome to our intro into dress making sessions. We have put together a programme of workshops perfect for Beginner or returning Sewists to build skills and confidence to create and make essential wardrobe basics.
These sessions will be held on a Tuesday Evening, with each garment piece taking approx. 3 weeks to complete.
A great place to Start is a Simple Skirt, always a great staple and can be mixed and match with your existing items
Choose from:
The Fiore Skirt
A chic, high-waisted A-line skirt with just the right amount of flare and volume.
Beginner-friendly with multiple variations, this elevated basic has tons of outfit potential.
Available in above or below the knee lengths.

Three views to choose from.
View A is a simple flared skirt with an invisible zipper at the back.
View B is an asymmetrical wrap skirt with a single hip pocket.
View C buttons up the front with curved patch pockets.
The Hollyburn
This skirt has just the right amount of swishy shape. Perfect for pear-shapes without adding and additional fabric through the hips. The Hollyburn is fitted at the waist, has practical and stylish pockets, features a centre back zipper and practical pockets.

Alberta
A personal favourite, the Alberta Street Pencil Skirt is a great classic silhouette for any season. A slim fitting, unlined skirt that tapers at the hem landing just below the knee. It features a contoured waistband that sits just below the waist, angled and oversized front patch pockets, double back darts, back vent and centre back zipper.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
• Measure and choosing your correct size
• Pattern & fabric layout
• How to read pattern marking and pattern terminology
• Straight and French seam sewing
• Creating neat facings and bias edges
• Top stitch techniques
• Hemming
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
• Basic sewing kit – scissors, pins, marking tools/pens pencils
• Depending on size and pattern choice you will need approx. 1.4 to 2 mtrs of light to medium weight fabric (Cotton Lawn, Rayon, Chambray, Denim or cord, we carry a full range of fabrics at the studio and will be happy to advise.
