The Skirt must be one of our No.1 wardrobe essential; from office to casual or evening wear. Team it with a tee, blouse, jumper or sweat then finish your look with flats, trainers, heel or boots, sorted!

We have put this workshop into Two Sessions; we find shorter sewing spells can sometimes be more productive for some Sewists to maximise their learning, rather than one long day.

For this workshop we have picked two amazing Jean Style Skirt patterns for you to choose from:

Ellis Skirt from Cashmerette size 12-28

The Classic denim skirt that’s undergone an update. Designed with two classic body shape fits  (apple or pear), features a  fly front zip, shaped back yoke, fitted waistband, tailored back darts. Knee length or mini gret top stitch detail optional rivets and belt loops

Ness Skirt from  Tilly & The Buttons size 4-20

Elevate your sewing with this classic fly front skirt pattern. Ness looks stylish year-round, paired with a t-shirt in summer or a roll neck in winter. The straight skirt has a shaped waistband and curved back yoke for a flattering fit. Choose from mini version or below-the-knee hemline with centre front split.

• WHAT YOU WILL NEED

• Basic sewing kit – pins, scissors marking tools

Fabric for your skirt – Depending on your pattern choice

• The Ellis Skirt – depending on size and length 1.2-1.9 of stretch denim/ cord fabric, and ½ m of cotton lining for cotton bags , 8” zipper
• Ness Skirt – 1.2 -1.5 mt of fabric, 35cm of cotton lining for pocket bags and an 5” zipper.
• Matching thread and Top stitch thread

Fabric recommendations are – stable medium weight cottons, light- medium weight denims or corduroy

We have a full range of fabrics at the studio and will be happy to advise on the type and amount required.
