Master Class Shirt Making With the Pro-Claire Louise Hardie

Know your way around a sewing machine… ready to raise your game and introduce yourself to the art of tailoring, while soaking up new skills, then this workshop is a definite.
Spend two whole days learning fabulous new skills to perfect tricky elements like cuffs, button plackets, collars and collar stand. You can choose to make a man’s or ladies’ shirt, how awesome would it be to make your partner a gorgeous shirt or a cool chic classic for yourself. We recommend the Lisle & Co ladies or man’s All Day classic shirt or the Oakridge shirt from Sewaholic patterns to work with, but you are free to bring your own pattern if you prefer.
Sewing Guru Claire Louise Hardy, expert pattern designer, sewing author, costume designer and producer of the Great British Sewing Bee will guide you through the process, developing and increasing your skills with precision.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Claire will lead you through the process from layout, cut-out to top-stitching and flat-felling (no special sewing machine or foot required).
Create a crisp collar, tricks to perfect a balanced button placket with beautiful buttonholes and perfectly turned cuffs. Your shirt will look as professional as the skills you’ve acquired.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Basic sewing kit – scissors, pins, marking tools
Pattern of your choice- we stock the recommended shirts from Lisle & Co and Sewaholic plus the McCalls range is on site, we are happy to advise on a pattern further if you are unsure.
1.5- 2 mtrs of fabric – cotton, cotton lawn, shirting. Matching thread
Lunch if required during the day
