Autumn Jacket – Kelly Anorak

An event every week that begins at 6:15 pm on Monday, repeating until October 3, 2022

Say hello to coat making with the fabulous Kelly anorak. A classic shape coat with a modern cut.
In this workshop we will be making the unlined version of the coat offering the perfect opportunity to be introduced into the world of coat making ready for the Autumn.
The coat features a two-piece cuffed sleeve, optional drawstring waist, gusseted flap pocket and a zipper placket with snap buttons. Opt to make version A with three-piece hood or View B stand up collar
Techniques involved include sewing a straight seam/ flat fell, setting sleeves, attaching a collar or hood, and inserting an open zipper.
This workshop will run over 4 consecutive Monday evenings …NB you will be required to complete some homework consisting of straight seam sewing in between sessions.
WEEK 1
Pattern layout and cutting of outer fabric and interfacings
WEEK 2
In week 2 we will be making a start on constructing our front and back yolks along with the pockets
WEEK 3
We’re rocking now! week 3 will see our coats taking shape with shoulder and side seams sewn. Working on the drawstring casing and inserting eyelets; along with the hood or collar construction
WEEK 4
The penultimate week; This week will see our sleeves go in with those awesome cuffs, and that Zip !
WEEK 5
Here we are week 5 this week will see the facings being attached to our coat – turning up the hem and finishing techniques to complete an awesome make!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Main Body:
2 3- 3.2 mtrs of light to Medium weight woven fabrics…twill, cotton canvas, denim, gaberdine or soft shell. Fabrics such as denim, twill and canvas are also suitable for a lightweight spring or fall jacket. We are happy to advice on quantity and types
Interfacing: 1mtr of fusible woven interfacing.
